Microsoft Powerpoint
This is a Powerpoint presentation saved as HTML for website – also as a learning exercise
Powerpoint uses a succession of “slides” – each of which is a mini-DTP page in itself (“Insert New Slide”)
All the gizmos are applied from drop-down menus or right-click menus – but may not work when saved as HTML
All of this presentation can be included on one floppy disc
Two of the slides need Acrobat Reader, but could be included as objects without the Reader
Most presenters use only the most basic features, and then as lecture note prompts
Computability IW –
Progress to Date
Computability Sub-Group of the Isle of Wight PC User Group
Helping to make computer technology available to disabled people on the Isle of Wight
Project Background
PCIUG members like playing with computers
They also like helping people
Disabled people have a preferential need for computers because of mobility and other problems
They tend to have economic constraints
Put it together
This is an area in which we can do some good.
An area where we can leave the world a little better than we find it – and get a feel-good factor from doing it.
Flowchart Analysis
Two inputs to flowpath…
Community need identified – general solution within the community
Individual need identified – per case
System path followed by Computability Committee
System path followed by individual case
Two main categories…
Those who have mobility difficulties but otherwise can manage OK
Those who have specific difficulties which make it hard to use a computer
And both tend to have economic constraints…
